Arizona State Sun Devils – Season Overview

asu-sun-devils-football-blogAs you probably know, the Arizona State University Sun Devils football team is in the fierce  Pac-12 Conference. Currently, Arizona State is ranked #9 out of the 12 teams in their conference but are hoping to finish strong this season. In order to earn their place in a bowl game this year, they have to win two games. Their first upcoming game they have to win is against Washington and the odds are heavily in Washington’s’ favor. Washington is actually favored by 26 points, and for all of you sports betters out there, you may want to think hard about this one. Right off the bat Washington has a huge advantage because they’re playing at home, and usually perform very well at home. But, before you go making any bets, I have a feeling the Sun Devils are going to come out for blood this game. When your team knows they have 2 chances left at accomplishing their goal of playing in a bowl game, it really sparks a fire inside of them. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy by any means, but I think they’ll certainly put up a fight and it will be a fun game to watch. After ASU faces the Washington Huskies, they will then face their Arizona Rivals, the U of A Wildcats. Once again, the Wildcats will have home field advantage in this game and will be hungry to end their terrible season on a positive note. The wildcats are 2-8 this season and haven’t had a win yet in 12 chances against other teams in their division. Since the Wildcats and Sun Devils are have a heated history when playing each other and are both in the PAC-12 division, it always makes for an entertaining game to watch.

The Sun Devils football team has a pretty bad record when it comes to division play this year. Their record is only 2-5 when playing teams against other teams in their division but they’ve had some close games. They had a few chances to win in some big games and didn’t execute when it mattered most and wound up putting them in quite a precarious situation. It will be interesting to see how the Sun Devils perform in their last couple of games this seasons. I know their head coach is hoping to see a solid foundation of experienced players that he can count on to have a great season next year.
